At The Study at Yale, guests are invited to tour our Aisling Gallery (translated as “vision, dream” in Irish), an intimate, relaxed space offering a unique opportunity for Yale students to exhibit their works on a rotating basis, fostering their artistic talent and giving others a chance to experience the student's art in a way that was not previously available to a broader audience.
Yale University Class of 2021
Currently on display in the Aisling Gallery at The Study at Yale is work by Yale University student, Asher Liftin. The main works of the show are two 80” x 60” paintings in primarily black and white that deal with velocity by creating forms out of painted swirls and the repetition and accumulation of these swirls. This is a sculptural way of painting as it is a constant pushing and pulling, using the dark swooping lines to produce depth and light tones to pull things forward. The final forms almost come loose, but are held together across the surface with the other subjects in a tight knot of darks and lights, frozen in conflict.
